ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT

In 2001, a few Kowloon players at the Indian Recreation Club in So Kon Po brainstormed the idea of "RugbyFest" during a post-training chat. They saw a need for more playing opportunities around the Hong Kong Sevens, especially for local clubs and international rugby fans with a “Boots in bag will travel” attitude.

Approved by the Hong Kong Rugby Union, RugbyFest kicked off in 2002. It quickly became a staple of Hong Kong's rugby week, growing to include a women's pool in 2014, and a men's veterans section in 2024 requiring a move from So Kon Po to King’s Park due to the need for more pitches. The event now draws teams from around the globe. RugbyFest is celebrated as "Probably…….. the best social rugby tournament in the world," embracing the true spirit and camaraderie of rugby.

So all come and enjoy Rugby as it should be at the Kowloon RugbyFest

RugbyFest has attracted teams from the following places…….

England, Wales, USA, Hong Kong, Macau, Australia, Rwanda, South Africa, New Zealand, Mongolia, Malaysia, Guam, France, Singapore, Hungary, UAE, Japan, Laos, Borneo, Russia, China, Philippines, Brunei, British Virgin Islands, Finland, Canada, Indonesia, Thailand and even Yorkshire

TOURNAMENT LAWS

This is a social amateur tournament.

Professionally contracted players are prohibited from playing in the tournament.

LOCATION

RUGBYFEST is played out in what many consider to be the ‘dark side”. The King’s Park playing pitches are located on the site of the former British Military Hospital, which while the Brits were still in town was rather handy for carting wounded players into the main building, while team comrades in arms retired to the well-stocked and ridiculously cheap bar for a few libations.

The tournament is played on all 3 pitches. Players should note that all pitches are artificial surfaces.

Parking is very limited but teams can make their way to the ground on team coaches, or by taxi for those heading straight from Wan Chai!!!!
