Thursday, 27 March 2008
SJM Macau remained undefeated yesterday during the Kowloon 10’s RugbyFest
to bring home the tournament's first prize.
IN FACT MACAU DIDN'T CONCEDE A POINT IN THE FIVE MATCHES IT NEEDED TO WIN THE
KING'S PARK TOURNAMENT.
The Macanese Team started the 24 team tournament in Pool C in a total of 4 teams.
It won all three pool matches convincingly, 33-0, 33-0 and 52-0. The three victories
took the team to the Semi final of the Cup, a chance to compete for the tournament
trophy.
MACAU TOOK ITS MOMENTUM INTO THE MATCH, RUNNING OUT WINNERS 47-0.
THE FINAL SAW MACAU CLASH WITH THE HOME-SIDE, THE KOWLOON MALLONS. AGAIN MACAU
WAS THE SUPERIOR SIDE WINNING 33-0.
The tournament kick's off the island's Rugby 10’s season and prepares
teams for the largest Asian tournament of the year which takes place in Manila
during the first weekend of April.
Yesterday's win will boost the team's confidence going in in to the Manila competition
where it will compete strongly to bring home some silverware.
Macau's previous best result in the Kowloon 10’s RugbyFest was in 2004
when it won the Plate competition.
